A Busy Autumn!

Etienne Couture, Eng., President

Although the leaves will soon start to change colors, fall will be hot. The forecast calls for a season that will be perfect for developing ideas, announcing new services or getting involved in the community and your RéseauIQ has a lot to offer...

First of all, attending the Quebec Engineers Convention is a must. We’ve modified our program, condensing it into one day, which will be held this coming Thursday November 26th 2009.This year’s theme, Today’s Engineering Challenge: Innovating to Build the Future, will allow you to hear a dozen specialists and prestigious speakers share their ideas and solutions on modern challenges that engineers face in their profession. Be there! It is also an excellent opportunity to develop your network.

Secondly, continuing education will soon be mandatory.  Before long, l’Ordre will require 30 hours of training every two years. Think ahead by planning your professional development with your RéseauIQ and its 51 courses best rated by your colleagues. L’Ordre however, must continue to focus on its sole control mission to protect the public.

The RéseauIQ would also like to invite you to the Quebec-France Engineering Forum, October 28th, 2009. Now that your diploma is automatically recognized on both these territories, come discover how to stimulate business exchanges within this pool of over 70 million people. An event not to be missed!

What can be said about the upcoming municipal elections which will be taking place all over of Quebec? Visit the Web page of the RéseauIQ, prepared especially for this occasion (www.reseauiq.qc.ca) and dedicated to engineers who are candidates.  In the section, Discussions and position statements, you will find a page named Quebec 2009, Municipal Elections which displays the profiles of the engineers running for office, whether as mayor or a member of a city council for all regions within the province. Great election season to all!

Finally, the magazine IMAGINE, a growing success, is starting its second year of existence. Take advantage of this magazine to stock up on information by reading articles on subjects such as carbon exchange or the article on sustainable design. Also, discover the seven contemporary wonders of engineering or the exclusive interview with Pierre Shoiry, the man behind Génivar.

Have a great autumn!
