Challenges for the next generation — our students are our future!
The RéseauIQ was front and centre on university campuses this year to welcome new engineering students. We joined in the spirited and rousing atmosphere of Orientation Week to tell newcomers about all the free services they can obtain through RéseauIQ now that they’re starting school. We also talked about their futures, career choices and opportunities following graduation.
With data from the 2011 RéseauIQ Graduate Recruitment Forecast for 2011, we were able to reveal the prospects facing young recruits. According to this study, to quote a few figures, 36% of hiring forecasts come from civil engineering, followed by mechanical and electrical engineering, at 32% and 15% respectively.
Engineering excellence starts at university, with motivated, skilled staff and professors who work hard to convey their passion and knowledge to equally motivated students with a thirst for knowledge and success. Some sizeable challenges await our next generation of graduates. We are counting on the vitality of young people to keep engineering and Québec moving forward!
