I HEAR YOU!

Dear Members,

The end of the agreement between the OIQ and the RéseauIQ, mentioned in my message to members last week, has generated reactions from many engineers.  They are concerned about the new reality facing their two largest groups as of March 31. I share their concern and welcome the efforts of so many members on discussion forums to send us their comments. We have read your comments carefully, in order to provide an exhaustive response that will clarify the situation and explain the position of the RéseauIQ.  I urge you to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)  and to continue to let us know what you think.

Financially, legally and politically independent, the OIQ and the RéseauIQ have had a synergetic relationship for nearly 8 years, during which they shared a clear vision of their distinct missions.  The OIQ’s return to offering services to engineers flagrantly contradicts its 2002 decision to concentrate on its primary mission of protecting the public – the decision that led to the birth of the RéseauIQ.

It seems appropriate to ask how a professional order can defend the interest of the public at the same time as the socio-economic interests of its members.  Especially since engineers now realize the need to see their profession refocused and bad practices punished.

The RéseauIQ is the only organization that promotes the interests of engineers, and it does so without asking for dues.  Our mission, to “serve the common interests of engineers,” means that we pay careful attention to your socio-economic needs in order to offer you a range of very high quality commercial and training services.  We remain the standard for services and will continue to do so, even if the OIQ has decided to set the clock ten years.

President
