Dear members,

As the newly appointed president of RéseauIQ, I am truly honoured to address you with these few words for the first time. I have had the opportunity, as an administrator, to witness the work done by the Corporation to become what it is today. Dedicated to foster, promote and serve engineers, RéseauIQ has reinforced its role and justified its mission. As I take over from my predecessors, I am committed to embracing that continuity.

I will do everything in my power to consolidate all that has been gained and to further develop our organization in an open and highly professional manner.

To begin with, my wish is the following: to renew good relationships with the Order. Rightly or wrongly, the last few months have been difficult, and the time has come to acknowledge the past in order to address the future. If the partnership that linked the two organizations no longer prevails, we must find new ways of collaborating and we must learn to work together to increase the influence of engineering in Quebec. Although both our missions differ, we share several cases that are of concern for both the engineers and the public, cases that would be better served if conducted in partnership.

Incidentally, we intend to develop new trade benefits and increase our offer of continuing education. As an example, about a hundred courses will be offered during the 2011 Winter and Spring sessions! In addition, RéseauIQ will make all possible efforts to promote the engineers’ contribution to the important current issues and challenges we face in Quebec.
Finally, I wish to welcome the new members of the Board of Directors of RéseauIQ and its new executive committee. We will work together to consolidate, develop and expand our organization, in the best interest of all engineers in Quebec.
